A professional pump-out uses a vacuum truck to fully empty your holding tank — the tank that collects waste from your toilet and, in some setups, grey water from sinks and showers. The whole thing typically takes 15–30 minutes depending on tank size and access.

How Often Do You Actually Need One?

A good rule of thumb: pump out when your tank hits about two-thirds full, or before you head to your next destination so you start fresh.

For full-timers or extended trips, that might be every 3–7 days. For weekend campers, it might just be at the end of the season or before a big trip. For park model trailers and mobile homes on holding tanks, a monthly or quarterly schedule prevents the kind of backup that turns into a much bigger (and more expensive!) headache.
